23XI Racing employee suspended after arrest at Charlotte

NASCAR has indefinitely suspended a 23XI Racing employee who allegedly assaulted a man with a golf cart at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Evanna Howell, 35, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon serious injury, Cabarrus County records show. A police report states that Howell intentionally hit a 77-year-old man with a golf cart at the race track on May 23, around 1:45 p.m.

NASCAR announced that Howell was suspended indefinitely from the sport for behavioral reasons in its Wednesday penalty report.

It’s unclear what led to the crash. Howell was released from Cabarrus County jail after posting a $125,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in court again on June 16.
