Portion of Tennessee highway dedicated in honor of Sterling Marlin

A portion of U.S. Highway 31 in Maury County, Tennessee, has been dedicated as the Sterling Marlin Highway in honor of the former NASCAR Cup Series driver. The stretch of highway runs from State Route 246 (Carters Creek Pike) to Raider Lane in front of Spring Hill High School, Marlin’s alma mater. The designation was approved by the Tennessee General Assembly earlier this year.

Marlin, a Maury County native known as the “Columbia Comet,” followed his father, Coo Coo Marlin, into racing and went on to win 10 NASCAR Cup Series races, including back-to-back Daytona 500 victories in 1994 and 1995. He was named one of NASCAR’s 75 Greatest Drivers in 2023.
