Hamlin maintained control of his No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota as Larson buried his No. 5 Chevrolet into Turns 3 and 4 on the final lap. #5-Larson finished 2nd followed by #42-Chastain, #19-Truex, #4-Harvick, #1-Busch, #2-Keselowski, #22-Logano, #17-Buescher, and #3-Dillon.
Pole sitter #12-Blaney finished 22nd after a late race spin.
Hamlin took the lead with 68 laps remaining and held off late charges by Larson and Chastain. The win locks him into the Playoffs’ Round of 12.
A number of Playoff drivers ran into trouble:
On lap 32, #34-McDowell got loose and slid down the track into the inside wall, tearing up the front of the car. He could not continue and finished 37th.
Just after the start of the second stage, #18-Busch got hard into the outside wall after contact from #3-Dillon and tore up the rear of the car. He went to the garage and finished 35th.
#24-Byron cut a tire down on lap 200 and slid up into the wall. The car could not be repaired. He finished 34th.
With 41 laps remaining, #9-Elliott made contact with the wall and tore up the front end of the car. He finished 31st.
Stage 1 was won by #11-Hamlin. Stage 2 was won by #5-Larson.
There were 18 lead changes among 10 drivers and 11 cautions for 52 yellow flag laps.
The average speed of the race was: 121.279mph.
