#12-Ryan Blaney won the Coke Zero Sugar 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway. The win is his third win of the year, first at Daytona and seventh career win.
Blaney was leading when the caution flag waved on the last lap for a multi-car wreck, ignited by contact between the #96-Daniel Suarez and #4-Kevin Harvick. The wreck also included #3-Austin Dillon. Dillon and teammate #8-Tyler Reddick were in a battle for the final Playoff spot entering the race. Both drivers had troubles of their own throughout the night, but an 18th place finish for Dillon, combined with a sixth place finish for Reddick, allowed Reddick to claim the 16th and final spot in the Playoffs.
#17-Chris Buescher finished second but his car failed post race inspection for failure to comply with the NASCAR rulebook;  track bar mounting assembly. The team was disqualified. With that, #23-Bubba Wallace grabbed the runner-up finish, followed by, #6-Ryan Newman, #37-Ryan Preece, #8-Reddick, #77-Justin Haley, #48-Alex Bowman, #9-Chase Elliott, #78-BJ McLeod, and #52-Josh Bilicki.
Pole sitter #5-Kyle Larson started at the rear of the field after multiple tech failures, and finished 21st after being involved in the last lap accident. Larson, who earned five race wins throughout the season, earned the regular season championship.
The field is now set for the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs. The drivers competing are: #5-Kyle Larson, #19-Martin Truex, Jr., #48-Alex Bowman, #12-Ryan Blaney, #18-Kyle Busch, #9-Chase Elliott, #24-William Byron, #22-Joey Logano, #2-Brad Keselowski, #1-Kurt Busch, #20-Christopher Bell, #34-Michael McDowell, #10-Aric Almirola, #11-Denny Hamlin, #4-Kevin Harvick and #8-Tyler Reddick.
