Ricky Stenhouse Jr. wins longest DAYTONA 500 in two overtimes: In the longest DAYTONA 500 in NASCAR history, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. got help from an unexpected source and won the sport’s most prestigious race when a wild wreck froze the field in the second overtime. Stenhouse and reigning NASCAR Cup Series champion Joey Logano were battling for the lead on Lap 212 when contact from Aric Almirola’s Ford started Travis Pastrana’s Toyota spinning in Turn 2. #47-Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. won the Daytona 500 NASCAR Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway. The win is his 1st Daytona 500 win, 2nd win at Daytona and 3rd of his career.
#22-Logano finished 2nd followed by #20-Bell, #17-Buescher, pole winner #48-Bowman, #16-Allemendinger, #99-Suarez, #12-Blaney, #1-Chastain, and #15-Herbst.
The race ended under caution during the second overtime attempt. Stenhouse took the lead just before caution during the first overtime attempt and was out front at the time of the final caution.
Most of the race was calm with only one natural caution prior to the end of stage 2.
The race ran 212 laps for 530 miles and was the longest Daytona 500 by distance in history.

Alex Bowman sets blistering pace in Daytona 500 qualifying: Wednesday was a banner day for Hendrick Motorsports driver Alex Bowman. After announcing a contract extension that will keep him in the No. 48 Ally Chevrolet through 2026, Bowman sped to his third DAYTONA 500 pole position, dominating both rounds of times trials at 2.5-mile Daytona International Speedway. The numbers are staggering—and not just Bowman’s final-round qualifying speed of 181.686 mph (49.536 seconds), which eclipsed the pole-winning speed of teammate Kyle Larson (181.159 mph) in the 2022 debut season of NASCAR’s Next Gen Cup Series car.[Read More](2-15-2023)
