• NASCAR Rule Book Section 8.5.7.6.C states: NASCAR may determine that it is impractical to complete the advertised Race distance. In this occurrence, NASCAR, in its sole discretion, will determine when the Race concludes and will communicate a predetermined time to the competitors. As was announced over the main race channel, if the NASCAR Cup Series race at Pocono cannot reach the advertised Race distance after the conclusion of Stage 2, the conclusion time today will be 8:25pm/et.
If it’s necessary to implement this procedure, the process is:
Clock strikes the time
Leader hits the line
Leader runs a lap
Leader sees white flag at the end of that first lap
Leader runs another lap
Leader sees checkered
So, time, leader hits line, two more laps.
• 4:19pm/et – Engines fired at Pocono.
• 4:11pm/et – Pre-race ceremonies are underway.
• 3:45pm/et – Everything still on schedule and looking good to get the full race in today.  Estimated 45 minutes to green flag.
• Add Ty Dillon to the rear for unapproved adjustments.
• 3:10pm/et – Track drying is progressing on schedule. Pre-race ceremonies could be underway within an hour.
• Drivers to the rear today (so far) – #12-Blaney (Unapproved adjustments), #21-Berry (Unapproved adjustments), #23-Wallace (Unapproved adjustments), #24-Byron (Unapproved adjustments),  #51-Ware (Unapproved adjustment)s, #44-Poole (Multiple inspection failures
• NASCAR is currently estimating a 4:30pm/et green flag but that’s subject to change as track trying continues.
• 2:30pm/et – Drying continue at a good pace. NASCAR is now hoping to start the race between 4:00 & 5:00pm.  That will be plenty of time to finish a “typical” race at Pocono.
• 2:10pm/et – Rain continues to hold off and track drying is progressing. No timeline on a possible race start but things are looking more positive….for now. Amazon Prime is back with pre-race coverage.
• 1:45pm/et – No rain at the track.  Drying is underway.  There is still rain and lightning north of the track that could be an issue. It is windy so that’s helping the process for now.
• 1:32pm/et – The lightning hold has been lifted at the track. Still some light rain. NASCAR still hoping rain will end in time to get the track dry and get the full race in today.
• 1:11pm/et – Amazon Prime has left pre-race coverage and is showing the Earnhardt documentary.
• 1:00pm/et – The track is still under a lightning hold. Rain remains spotty in the area.  Air Titans are on track. It likely needs to stop raining by 2:30pmet today for them to have a chance to dry the track and get the full race in.  Amazon Prime has live coverage now.
• 12:40pm/et – Still light rain and lightning in the area.  Everything still on hold.
• At 11:45amet, it’s still raining at the track.  The hourly forecast currently calls for rain to move out around 2:00pm/et. It looks like the start of the race may be delayed.
• As of 10:43am/et, there is rain and lightning at the track.
• No drivers known to be going to the rear for today’s race. After Byron’s practice accident, the team decided to fix the car.
• Weather could be an issue today but nothing widespread is expected.  The chance of rain decreases as the day progresses. Follow RaceWeather for updates.
