Ted Musgrave said that Jack Roush is not buying the 97 team. He will do work as team consultant or team manager and build engines for them. Ted denied that the Roush cars are switching to Pontiac and he said the 97 will stay Pontiac. He said they are putting together

Heard a rumor (and nothing more then a rumor at this point) Jeff Burton is talking up Ward to Jack Roush as a possible replacement for Ted Musgrave in the third Touch entry next year , with Musgrave, from what I'm told , almost definitely gone from that ride next season

Yesterday, 4-8-97, NASCAR had a joint test with Bobby Labontes #18 InterState Pontiac, Mark Martins #6 and Ted Musgrave's #16 Fords, and Sterling Marlin's #4 Chevy at Daytona with restrictor plates(the rumor that restrictor plates would not be on the cars was wrong
