Ernie Irvan’s future is a hot topic in the garage. He is considering a ride next season with the NWO Busch team that is preparing to step up to the Cup tour, according to some NASCAR sources. Even though the team is apparently willing to pay a sizable amount to land a top driver — anywhere from $1 million to $1.5 million, according to sources close to the situation — that team probably wouldn’t be competitive for a while.
