2nd round qualifying is over: 14 teams stood on their 1st round times, including all drivers from 26th thru 36th place and #50- Wally Dallenbach, #36 Ernie Irvan and Darrell Waltrip in the #35 Pontiac. DW made the race once again on the past champions provisional. Of the eight who made 2nd round attempts none could crack the top 36. Dick Trickle was the fastest 2nd round with a speed of 120.581mph.
