Richert to Gibbs: Joe Gibbs, owner of the Porter-Cable BGN Team announced the hiring of veteran crew chief Doug Richert. Richert, 39, will oversee the #4 Porter-Cable Racing Team, with driver Jeff Purvis. Richert, a San Jose, CA native, brings a long list of racing success to the Joe Gibbs Racing organization. At the age of 19, he served as crew chief for Dale Earnhardt and led the 7-time Winston Cup Champion to his first title. The list of drivers Richert has worked with reads like a Who’s Who of NASCAR; Darrell Waltrip, Neil Bonnett, Alan Kulwicki, Benny Parsons, Jimmy Spencer, and Buddy Baker. More recently, Richert served as crew chief for PPI Motorsports and driver Scott Pruett. Richert went right to work on Monday, the team spent the day testing at Greenville-Pickens Speedway.
