Rumor has it that Casey Atwood [who now drives the #7 Sirius Dodge] will be in the #19 Dodge for the Bud Shootout, NASCAR’s 70-lap non-points Budweiser Shootout event for 2001’s Bud Pole winners on Feb. 10 at Daytona. Atwood he won his first career pole at Phoenix International Raceway last fall. Jeremy Mayfield who is the regular driver of the #19, after winning four poles in 2000, failed to win one in 2001 and is ineligible for the event.(NASCAR.com Buzz)(1-17-2002) UPDATE: Casey Atwood will compete in his first Budweiser Shootout in February. The 70-lap race, scheduled Feb. 10, has a record 23 drivers eligible. The 21-year-old Atwood got an invite after winning the pole at Phoenix last season. “I’ve always watched that race,” said Atwood. “Most of the time it’s all the best people in that race. It’s a great honor for me.” Atwood earned the pole in the #19 car, now driven by Jeremy Mayfield.
