Schrader and the #36? some news UPDATE: The future of the #36 Kenny Schrader-Jay Frye team, owned by Thomas Beard, remains cloudy as the sponsor search continues. An Army sponsorship is on the table, but negotiations have been stalemated for several weeks for reasons that are unclear. If the team can’t clinch the sponsorship soon, it may wind up with car owner Andy Petree. Meanwhile, there are reports that IMG is interested in buying into the Schrader-Frye operation, in what could be a similar deal to the Valvoline buy-in to the sister team of Johnny Benson and James Ince. IMG, Mark McCormack’s sports marketing agency, has been involved in Winston Cup marketing for three years.(Winston Salem Journal) UPDATE: sources at IMG tell me – “At this time, IMG has no plans to purchase any interest in a NASCAR Winston Cup race team.”(10-7-2002)
