Amanda Zimmerman, who was the grand marshal for the 2002 UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, died Monday night at the age of 17. Amanda had battled chronic heart and lung disease since birth. She also formed a special bond with NASCAR driver Bill Elliott, who would call Amanda each year on her birthday.(8-27-2003)
