Biffle wins at Atlanta:

#7-Greg Biffle won the Aaron’s 312 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, his 3nd of 2003. Following a pit stop under caution on Lap 185 of 203, Biffle lined up fourth on the restart, but his Chevrolet was the second car with four fresh tires. Within four laps he passed leader #99-Michael Waltrip, who had not pitted, and held on for a 0.961-second victory over #17-Matt Kenseth. #35-Bobby Hamilton Jr. was third, Waltrip fourth and #8-Hank Parker Jr. completed the top five. #37-David Green, with an eighth-place finish, moved into the series points lead and holds a 13-point advantage over #10-Scott Riggs, who finished sixth. The race for the series’ driver championship took a wild turn when then-points leader Brian Vickers suffered damage to the left- and right-front of his #5 GMAC Chevrolet following a three-wide run with Parker and #19-Casey Mears on the second lap. Vickers pitted during a caution on Lap 4, but eventually fell several laps down after undergoing repairs and then spinning out on Lap 47. He was credited with a 31st-place finish. Of the five drivers in the hunt for the title, Green and Riggs were the only ones to finish on the lead lap. #2-Ron Hornaday and #57-Jason Keller, who are tied in third, 49 points behind Green, both finished a lap down. Kevin Harvick finished ninth in Richard Childress Racing’s #21 Chevrolet, which now leads the car owner standings by a commanding 216-point margin with three of 34 races remaining.(ThatsRacin.com)
