Jimmie Johnson extended the longest current streak for consecutive weeks in the NASCAR Top 10 to 69 weeks with his 2nd place finish in last seasonÃÂÃÂs championship race. It is the 9th longest streak in the modern era (1972-present). Should Johnson remain in the NASCAR Top 10 the entire 2004 season, he will pass Richard Petty and take sole possession of sixth place on the all-time list. An interesting note is that the season-opening race put a halt to all but two of the streaks, the exception being Dale EarnhardtÃÂÃÂs record streak of 174 weeks and Sterling MarlinÃÂÃÂs 11th-ranked run (66 weeks).(Team LoweÃÂÃÂs Racing PR)(2-9-2004)
