Tires important? sitting behind the #42 pit, could see 5-6 team members working on 40 tires, checking air pressure, marking codes, putting tape on for the tire changer mark to line up with the stud, and something I never have seen, a silver disc of some sort, placed over the wheel, been told it is to keep the black wheels from the sun and keep them cooler. Also noticed the #32 team using the silver ‘discs’.
The #89 Morgan Shepherd car was a Dodge, not a Ford as I reported earlier.
Was walking along pitroad, when it seemed with no warning….the National Anthem was being played, crews towards the front of pit road scrambled to get lined up, Jayski immediatly stopped and took his cap off, putting his bald done in danger of sunburn but for a good reason.(3-7-2004)
