#24-Travis Kvapil moved into the lead with 17 laps remaining and held on for his first victory of the season at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday. Kvapil finished ahead of #1-Ted Musgrave in the Line-X Spray-On Truck Bedliners 200, surging into the lead coming off a caution in the 100-lap race and holding off several challengers. Trucks stacked up three and four wide on the two-mile oval as drivers fought for position. The race ended under caution after an accident occurred behind Kvapil as he began his final lap. The victory capped a wild weekend for Kvapil, who started 30th in the 34-car field because he was forced to change the engine on his Toyota after a late Friday practice. “We really had to work on the truck to get it there,” said Kvapil, who gave Toyota its first NASCAR truck series win. “The last 20 laps of the race were the fastest the truck had been all weekend. We made some great adjustments.” Kvapil was the ninth different winner in 13 races this year on the NASCAR truck circuit, the victory was the fourth of his career. #42-Mike Skinner [Toyota] finished third. #23-Johnny Benson [Toyota] fourth, and #4-Bobby Hamilton [Dodge] fifth. There were seven cautions for a total of 22 laps, dropping Kvapil’s average speed to 125.479mph. Seven different drivers led the race. There were 18 lead changes, with Hamilton leading eight times for 50 laps. #46-Dennis Setzer, who started on the pole because he is the NASCAR truck season points leader, finished 10th.
