#5-Kyle Busch won the Kroger 200 at Indianapolis Raceway Park, holding off a late charge by #27-Johnny Sauter. The rest of the top-5: #00-Jason Leffler, #8-Martin Truex Jr. and #60-Greg Biffle.
from ThatsRacin.com: #5-Kyle Busch won Saturday night’s Kroger 200 following a hard-fought duel with Johnny Sauter. Hendrick’s #5 NASCAR Busch Series team won this race a year ago, which helped propel then-driver Brian Vickers to the 2003 series championship. Busch’s win did not come easy. He held off a furious charge by Johnny Sauter, but finally began to pull away in the final laps. He edged Sauter – who also finished second in Friday night’s Craftsman Truck Series race at the track – by 0.896 seconds at the finish. Busch, who now trails points leader Martin Truex Jr. by 117 points after 22 of 34 races, hopes Saturday night’s win can ignite a similar run to a championship made by Vickers. Jason Leffler finished third for the third consecutive race. Truex Jr., after being black-flagged for jumping the start of the race, rallied from the back of the field to finish fourth. Greg Biffle completed the top five. Sauter, obviously, was disappointed watching an opportunity to win pass by for the second consecutive night. “It wasn’t much of a battle. Compared to the other night when we screwed up and didn’t take tires, it was all in all a good night,” he said. “I wish I could have had a caution or something in the last 10 laps. I think I would have had something more for (Busch) on cold tires.” The race was slowed seven times by caution for 38 of 200 laps. There were five lead changes among five drivers, with Sauter leading the most laps (121).
