UPDATE: The Spin Out Zone from RacinDeals.com, has learned that the NAVY is currently reviewing their NASCAR sponsorship options and should have a decision shortly. A Navy representative told the Spin Out Zone the following: The Navy appreciates the opportunity to continue its relationship with NASCAR and looks forward to a full racing year in 2005. A decision about a Navy sponsorship of a NASCAR racing team for the 2005 season is undetermined at this point. We are looking at a number of options and will have a plan soon.
When asked if NASCAR will be a part of the NAVY’s marketing plan over the next few years, the representative provided the following statement: The Navy realizes that NASCAR motorsports is one of the most exciting and fastest growing sporting events in the country today. Partnership with NASCAR helps increase Navy’s recruiting efforts by leveraging national television exposure of the Navy racing team, while the show car program will capitalize on person-to-person contacts. NASCAR is a great American sport, a strong supporter of the military, and has a strong Navy fan base. As mentioned above, though, a decision has not been made about the Navy’s sponsorship of a NASCAR racing team for the 2005 season. The Navy’s exposure in NASCAR also produces outstanding public outreach, reaching a broad cross-section of the American public and harnessing NASCAR’s brand image strengths to improve consideration of Naval service.(RacinDeals)(9-25=2004)
