UPDATE: Long-time NASCAR Busch Series car owner Frank Cicci announced today that Frank Cicci Racing with Jim Kelly has reached a sponsorship agreement with the Dollar General Corporation for the 2005 season. Veteran driver Randy LaJoie, the 1996 and 1997 NASCAR Busch Series champion, will pilot the #34 Dollar General Chevy Monte Carlo beginning with the Hershey’s Kisses 300, 2005 season opener at Daytona International Speedway on February 19. Polaroid Alkaline Batteries will be the first of several Dollar General marketing partners to support the company’s initial sports sponsorship project. Frank Cicci Racing with Jim Kelly, the recently enshrined National Football League Hall of Fame quarterback, will operate out of its 12,000-square foot racing facility in the Mooresville Motorsports Park. John Bland will serve as crew chief. The familiar yellow and black colors of Dollar General stores and corporate logo will be featured on the Cicci/Kelly racing machines. FCR-prepared Busch Series cars have started 708 races and recorded 19 victories, 139 top five and 277 top 10 finishes and earned 14 poles.
