A former ARCA campaigner and Pryor, Okla., native, Christi Passmore will drive a full Busch Series schedule for Keith Coleman Racing. Passmore finished eighth in ARCA points in 2003 and 2004. In 52 career series starts, she scored five top-5 finishes and 17 top-10s. She began racing at age 12 and by age 16 was competing around the world against some of the top sprint car racers. She became the first female to compete in sprint cars at Tulsa, Okla., Sedalia, Mo., and Little Rock, Ark. She raced in the World of Outlaws division where she qualified for the Knoxville Nationals twice and finished 10th out of 104 cars in 2001. Throughout her five years of sprint car racing, Passmore accumulated 17 wins in both the United States and New Zealand.(Florida Today)(2-9-2005)
UPDATE: Saying that it was not the right situation at the right time, ARCA Series veteran Christi Passmore decided Wednesday not to drive the #50 Busch Series effort of Keith Coleman Racing this season. Passmore was to replace driver Jennifer Jo Cobb, who was not approved for all tracks, and run a full Busch Series schedule this season. But when her schedule recently was reduced to 19 races she decided it was in her best interest to stay in the ARCA Series. Passmore said team owner Keith Coleman faxed her a contract to run 19 races for team sponsor Vassarette and Cobb, who started at Homestead for the team last season, was to run the other 16 races. Because she was unsure about her future with the team, Passmore opted for a third full season in the ARCA Series, where she will begin practice for the season-opening Advance Auto Parts 200 today at Daytona International Speedway. The 22-year-old ARCA veteran has finished eighth in ARCA points each of the past two seasons, and she has scored five top-5 finishes and 17 top-10 finishes in 52 career starts. It is believed Cobb, who has five ARCA starts, will be retained by KCR, but there was no word from the team on Wednesday.(Daytona Beach News Journal)(2-10-2005)
