UPDATE: After 19 outings for the ppc Racing team, former Champ Car driver Michel Jourdain Jr of Mexico has announced the interruption of his NASCAR Busch Series program with the outfit, both sides claiming a lack of financial resources to go on. The teams reactivation is now pending on new sponsorship being found. I am very disillusioned by this situation but confident that well find a solution as soon as possible, Jourdain said in a statement. Weve been struggling for several weeks, canceling test days and so forth, and those things were making us unable to compete at this level. The double Champ Car race winner clarified his contractual situation with the squad: Im still part of the team; Ill keep on getting paid while they work to find sponsorship. My contract says they must give me a car for this weekend [Saturdays New England 200 at Loudon], but without money that is simply not possible. My lawyers will take over from now on. According to Jourdain, Ford Racing is also seeking a solution for the impasse. It was Ford that proposed my coming to the Busch Series, and they were the ones who supported me and found me a ride. Ive spoken to [Ford Racing director] Dan Davis and he told me theyre worried and looking for a way past this situation, as theyre also part of our [NASCAR] program.(Speed Channel)(7-14-2005)
