Crawford Streak Ends UPDATE back at Memphis:

#14-Rick Crawford, the ironman of the Craftsman Truck Series, will be starting all over, sort of, next week at Memphis Motorsports Park. Last weekend at Kentucky Speedway, Crawford crashed his #14 Ford in qualifying, slamming hard into the inside wall. While he was in a local hospital being checked out, Boris Said started his truck, ending Crawford’s consecutive start record at 210 races. He’s still tied with Jack Sprague for all-time truck series starts. Crawford took the blame for the crash and credited NASCAR’s safety improvements for keeping his injuries to a minimum. “Physically I’m OK and I survived,” he said. “Thank goodness NASCAR has all of the safety rules and regulations and everything that they put in these vehicles to be able to take a hit like that. . . . I’ll race again.”(Atlanta Journal-Constitution)(7-15-2005)
UPDATE: been told that Crawford has been cleared by NASCAR doctors to race again this weekend in Memphis.(7-20-2005)
