ppc Racing officials announced today Whelen Engineering will be the primary sponsor on the #22 ppc Racing Ford Taurus race team with driver Kenny Wallace this weekend at Gateway International Raceway (GIR). Since 1952, Whelen Engineering has made LED and Strobe lightbars and lightheads for police, fire and rescue, emergency, DOT and maintenance and construction equipment, all made in the U.S.A.[Whelen also sponsors the #31 and Dave Blaney in about 10 Busch races] “Our company is big on family values,” said Phil Kurze, director of Whelen Motorsports at Whelen Engineering Co. “Kenny Wallace and ppc Racing typifies our philosophy as one big family. Kenny is a dedicated family man. When we realized his need for sponsorship to complete the season after meeting in New Hampshire earlier this month and thought The Wallace Family 250 would be the best race for Whelen to sponsor. Kenny has a great personality and is a regular face seen on TV commercials and shows and represents every sponsor he has had in racing. This is a wonderful opportunity for us at Whelen Engineering and we are pleased to help Kenny and ppc Racing with their run toward the championship.”
Whelen’s outdoor warning sirens are throughout the City of St. Louis and around Gateway International Raceway. These sirens are used to warn people of tornadoes and other natural or man-made disasters. In addition, Whelen’s presence is seen throughout the industrial facilities in East St. Louis. Wallace has four top-10 finishes at GIR while Pollex was the winning car owner in 2003 with driver Scott Riggs.
For over 50 years, Whelen Engineering has researched, designed and developed warning and signaling devices.
