Wally partners to buy TV rights for Pike Peak Climb:

HIGHDRAMA Productions, and Wally Dallenbach, Jr. announced the acquisition of the television broadcast rights for the Pike’s Peak International Hill Climb through the 2011 race. The Hill Climb celebrates its 84th anniversary in 2006 as one of America’s oldest and most exciting motor sports events. This annual automobile race to the 14,110-foot summit of Pikes Peak, above the city of Colorado Springs, spans a grueling 12.5 miles along a gravelly road. More than 200 competitors in cars, trucks, and motorcycles participate, along with thousands of spectators who line the winding route. Dallenbach has driven in a variety of racing disciplines including NASCAR and open wheel cars in his racing career. He knows the history and importance of the Hill Climb in American motorsports. “I’m really excited about this project. I have been fortunate to drive just about everything on wheels, but the most fun I have ever had in a car has been at Pikes Peak. I love the event, and when I learned that the TV deal was up I approached the Hill Climb about giving me a shot at putting something together,” said Dallenbach. The Pikes Peak Hill Climb has been broadcast as a taped event for the last 10 years on ESPN2 and Speed Channel. The 2006 event is scheduled for the 4th of July weekend.(PR)(10-5-2005)
