Ward Named 2005 Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser:

Ward Burton has been honored by the Virginia Piedmont Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals as the 2005 Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser. With his family present, the award was given to him on National Philanthropy Day (NPD) at Boonsboro Country Club. Having received the award, he joins some of Virginia’s most distinguished citizens who have given the honor in the past. NPD has been observed since 1986 to recognize and pay tribute to the great contributions that philanthropy has made to the lives, communities, the nation as a whole and the world. “I have been very fortunate with the opportunities that I have been given. I believe in giving back and helping others whenever possible,” stated Ward Burton. Awards are given to acknowledge outstanding individual across the entire spectrum of services provided by the nonprofit sector and recognized the profound impact that philanthropy has on the fabric of society. NPD is observed in November each year. It is a time to honor exemplary philanthropist, volunteer fundraisers, corporations, foundations, media outlets, children, young adults and professional fundraisers for their outstanding work and contributions to the community.
