Bobby Hamilton hates not being at Lowe’s Motor Speedway for the running of the Truck Series’ Quaker Steak & Lube 200, but said Thursday that he must focus on his health instead of attending the race Friday night. Told to stay away from the track, Hamilton admits it would be virtually impossible to be in North Carolina at the moment. He’s been receiving daily radiation treatments in his hometown of Nashville, Tenn., for three weeks now and is feeling the effects. “Not going to Charlotte this weekend for the race was a very hard decision, but my health has to be my main priority,” Hamilton said. “It will be the first race that I’ve been involved in one way or the other with that I have missed since before my Cup career. I want to be there for my team, but I’ve got to work on getting healthy again. “I have three more weeks left of chemo and radiation treatments, and then I hope we can start on the road to recovery. I cannot thank everyone enough for all their thoughts and well wishes over the past few months.”(scenedaily.com)(5-19-2006)
