Mike Skinner wins from the pole at Las Vegas:

It’s been more than ten years since Mike Skinner won from the pole, but he managed to hold off hard-charging Ted Musgrave to win the Smith’s Las Vegas 350. This win marks the 19th win for Skinner in his Truck Series career. This is the 10th win for Toyota in 2006. Rounding out the top five; Ted Musgrave 2nd, Mike Bliss in 3rd, Johnny Benson 4th, and Ron Hornaday Jr. in 5th. The points race continues to tighten as Johnny Benson’s 4th place finish, despite transmission problems, chipped away at the points lead on Todd Bodine and he is now just 91 points out of first place. Todd struggled throughout most of race but managed to rally in the end to finish in the12th position. There were three rookies in the top ten; Ambrose (7th), Kinser (9th), Earnhardt (10th). Jeremy Mayfield fought a loose race truck all night and finished 23rd in the #15 Billy Ballew Motorsports Chevy. There were 9 lead changes among 6 drivers and 7 cautions for 31 laps.(9-23-2006)
