Heeding our New President’s Call for a National Day of Service, McMurray Makes Pit Stop at Walter Reed. As volunteers across the country participate in the National Day of Volunteer and Service to honor and remember Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Jamie McMurray, NASCAR driver of the #26 Crown Royal Ford, took advantage of his time off the track to commemorate the holiday. Shortly after arriving in the Washington DC-area, McMurray along with Washington Redskins Director of Responsibility and former Pro-Bowler Ken Harvey, showed their support by visiting soldiers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. “This is a very historic and exciting time for our country, with millions of people inspired to find ways to give back,” said McMurray. “I can think of no better way to do my part than to pay my respects to those who devote their lives to our freedom through their national service.” McMurray will remain in the nation’s capitol through Inauguration Day, watching the parade at the Embassy of Canada on Pennsylvania Avenue where a tailgate party will be hosted by the Canadian Tourism Commission.(Taylor PR)(1-20-2009)
