Under partially sunny skies, SpeedFest 2009, took place Sunday at Lanier National Speedway in Braselton, Georgia. Fans in the stands were treated to a 100-lap Georgia Asphalt Series (GAS) Pro Late Model event, followed by a 200-lap Champion Racing Association (CRA) Super Late Model event. While multiple drivers ran both races, it was Greg Simpson (PLM) and Kyle Busch (SLM) taking home the top honors. The Super Late Model 200-lap event saw a first half dominated by Casey Roderick. The Georgia racer tried to make his way back to the front after a four-car inversion at the midway break, but a mechanical failure forced him to the pits. Kyle Busch worked his way around then leader Shane Sieg after racing resumed during the second half, and held off Jason Hogan, Johanna Long, Scott Hantz and Michael Pope for the victory.(speed51.com)(1-26-2009)
