The hard crash sustained last Saturday by Brian Scott on lap 8 of the Michigan 200 at Michigan International Speedway did more than destroy Scott’s No. 16 Toyota Tundra chassis. It also broke a bone in the right wrist of the 21-year-old NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competitor. Despite the injury Scott will still compete in this Friday night’s Copart 200 NCWTS event at the Milwaukee Mile. “I knew as soon as I hit the wall something was wrong,” Scott said. “Usually with all the adrenaline flowing through you when you are competing on the racetrack you don’t feel any pain, but in this case my wrist hurt right away. I was hoping for the best, maybe that I had just banged it up. As more time passed after the wreck it felt more and more like a broken bone. It was the hardest hit of my career and the steering just yanked out of my hand. Usually I try and let go of the wheel if I know I am going to hit the wall hard but in this situation I didn’t have time. You have to commend NASCAR on the safety measures they have put in place. I am fortunate to have an injury that I can deal with and still compete effectively. We will go to Milwaukee and make the most of the situation.”(Xpress Motorsports PR)(6-16-2009)
