When NASCAR Nationwide Series driver John Wes Townley steers his #09 Zaxby’s Ford onto the track for Saturday night’s Degree V12 300 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, he’ll be displaying support for his former high school principal, John Osborne. The 19-year-old Townley was disappointed to learn last week that Osborne had been relieved of his duties as principal at North Oconee High School in Bogart, Ga. over comments to the local media regarding athletic facilities at the six-year-old school. Townley hopes the Oconee County school board will reverse the decision at a public hearing on Sept. 11 and reinstate the popular Osborne to his post.
