Larry Carter will be the new general manager of the Rusty Wallace Racing NASCAR Nationwide Series teams, according to a source familiar with the situation. The team fields the #66 of Steven Wallace and the #62 of Brendan Gaughan. Carter will replace Rick Carpenter, who has held the position for three years. Carter has most recently served as a spotter for Sprint Cup driver Robby Gordon, but the 47-year-old has a long history in the sport. A Raleigh, N.C., native, Carter worked with team owner Rusty Wallace as a crew chief in 2004. He spent two years as crew chief for Jamie McMurray at Roush Fenway Racing and worked with Paul Menard at Yates Racing in 2009. He got his start in NASCAR in 1999, working with the Cup program of his uncle, Travis Carter. (Fox Sports)(9-13-2010)
AND: Sirius NASCAR Radio’s Sirius Speedway with Dave Moody has learned that Brad Parrott has been relieved of his duties a crewchief for Brendan Gaughan’s South Point Resort and Casino Toyota at Rusty Wallace Racing. Parrott joined RWR in February of this year and guided the #62 team to 10th place in NASCAR Nationwide Series points, with three Top-5 and seven Top-10 finishes in 26 starts. Parrott confirmed his firing earlier today, but declined to comment further. Repeated calls to Rusty Wallace Racing seeking confirmation and comment were not returned. Parrott’s ouster comes just a day after veteran Larry Carter was tabbed to replace Rick Carpenter as General Manager at Rusty Wallace Racing. (Sirius Speedway)(9-14-2010)
