Former NASCAR Sprint Cup crew chief David Hyder has taken a position with Kevin Harvick Inc. Hyder won over 100 races driving Late Models in the Southeast but most recently worked as a crew chief with the Wood Brothers on the No. 21 Cup car. Hyder is “shadowing us” this weekend, said KHI general manager Rick Carelli. “He’ll be working on special projects,” Carelli added. “He’ll also be Kevin’s crew chief at Martinsville (Speedway) on the No. 2 Tide truck.” While KHI’s final plans for 2011 have yet to be announced, Carelli said that Hyder will be the crew chief for Tony Stewart and the No. 4 Chevrolet when he attempts to win his fourth consecutive Daytona 300 Nationwide Series race next February.(FoxSports.com)(10-15-2010)
