UPDATE: Alex “Kid” Kennedy will drive the #23 Funny Dan Race Car Man/St. Baldrick’s Dodge for R3 Motorsports this weekend in Dover. This will be his second NNS start of the season and eighth of his career. He has three previous starts on the Monster Mile in the NASCAR K&N East Pro Series qualifying in the top-20 for all three, one was a top-10. The sponsorship for the weekend is a combination of the new children’s book, “Funny Dan the Race Car Man,” and the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. The book was released last week and was written by Tim Packman, the team’s Communications Director, is part of the NASCAR Library Collection and was published by Headline Kids, the 2010 Independent Publisher of the Year. According to sources at NASCAR Publishing, this is the first time one of their books has been featured on the hood of car. It was Kennedy’s idea to put the book on the hood to help raise more awareness for St. Baldrick’s. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives. They raise funds and awareness by participants raising money to shave their heads as a sign of their support.
