All-Star Tire Notes

Teams in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will run a different tire set-up than those in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at Charlotte this weekend . . . while this is the first time Sprint Cup teams will run this left-side tire code, they did run this right-side code at Darlington earlier this month . . . this tire set-up came out of a Goodyear tire test at Charlotte last fall . . . drivers participating in that test were Kurt Busch, Juan Pablo Montoya and Martin Truex . . . compared to what Cup teams ran at Charlotte last season, this tire set-up features softer compounds on both the left and right side, which will give the cars more grip . . . as on all NASCAR ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run inner liners in all four tire positions at Charlotte . . . air pressure in those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire. The estimated pit window is every 48-52 laps, based on fuel mileage (Goodyear), see tire pressures, number of tires and more on the 2011 All-Star Info page.(5-20-2011)
