Burton starts the season with a new crew chief, Luke Lambert, who was his crew chief for part of 2011, returns to the #31. Burtons past crew chiefs: Scott Miller (Nov 2005-Oct 2009), Todd Berrier (Oct 2009-July 2011), Luke Lambert (July-Dec 2011), Drew Blickensderfer (most of 2012) and Shane WIlson (final 3 races in 2012), Caterpillar returns as the primary sponsor for 20-22 races. General Mills scraps the Wheaties colors for Cheerios in 2013, for 6 races. All indications are that BB&T Bank, a primary sponsor for 6 races in 2012, will not return in 2013. No word if EnerSys/ODYSSEY Batteries returns as a sponsor for a couple of races or if Rain-X will return as a sponsor for a race. RCR brought in Eric Warren as the competition director. Speculation was that Burton is signed thru 2013, but recently Burton said he has a long-term contract and that 2013 is not the last year of his contract.
