Kevin Harvick and his family escaped injury when a fire broke out in their Oak Ridge, N.C., home Wednesday morning. Both Kevin and his wife, DeLana, tweeted photos of the fire department at their house saying they were thankful for the response and that they were OK. The fire and fire alarm that went off woke up the Harvicks, his wife tweeted. Thank you all for the outpouring of concern.”(11-28-2013) UPDATE 2: Kevin Harvick wont be able to live in his home for another four to six months because of a Nov. 27 fire at his North Carolina residence. Harvick told reporters Friday following the Sprint Cup Series Awards in Las Vegas that the fire started when the floor joist underneath the fireplace caught on fire between the downstairs ceiling and the upstairs floor. ‘We couldnt really find the fire but it was basically just sitting between the two floors getting bigger and bigger and bigger’ Harvick said. ‘When we walked downstairs, there was probably three foot of smoke from top to bottom from one end of the house to the other. So we were very fortunate. “¦ We were very lucky with our home. The fire alarm pretty much saved our house.” Initially, Harvick thought he would be back in his home by February. ‘The more we dig into it, the worse it gets’ Harvick said. ‘They told us (Thursday) that were four to six months (before returning).” The Harvicks have been living in their motorhome while looking for a place to stay.( Sporting News )
