#24-Jeff Gordon won the pole for the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway, his 78th career pole, 3rd all time. It is the 23rd straight season [every season he has been full time in Sprint Cup] that Gordon has won a pole, extending his record, which had been 22 seasons. Gordon has also won 20 races from the pole, 5th all time, tied with Bobby Allison. Richard Petty holds that record at 61 followed by Pearson at 37.
