The similarities between racecars and rockets provide a unique opportunity to engage children in the science, technology, engineering and math used by both NASCAR and NASA. Now, children participating in the Jimmie Johnson Martinsville Ticket Package can experience firsthand the NASA Rockets 2 Racecars activities, prior to the Goody’s Headache Relief Shot 500 on November 1. The STEM-based program features a question-and-answer session with six-time NASCAR Champion and eight-time Martinsville Speedway winner Jimmie Johnson, hands-on instruction applying STEM principles, like wedge, downforce and velocity, that are used in both rockets and racecars and a 12-page four-color booklet featuring NASA Rockets 2 Racecars curriculum and Jimmie Johnson as “Flat Jimmie”. The Jimmie Johnson Martinsville Ticket Package is $48 for adults and $24 for youth and includes a ticket in the Bill France Tower to see the Goody’s Headache Relief Shot 500. Fans who have already purchased a race ticket can add on the Jimmie Johnson Martinsville Ticket package for just $10. The question-and-answer session and NASA Rockets 2 Racecars activities will be held in the Martinsville Speedway hospitality area.(Martinsville Speedway)(9-18-2015)
