As the 2019 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season draws to a thrilling conclusion with the crowning of its champion over the coming weeks, energy around the sport’s inaugural trip to Nashville for the season-ending Champion’s Week and Awards is just beginning to ramp up. Today, NASCAR announced that Nashville-based Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Cassadee Pope will serve as co-host for the event on December 5, 2019 – a fitting announcement given her roots in the city and long-time love for the sport of stock car racing.
“I grew up watching my grandpa race stock cars in Pennsylvania, and naturally became a NASCAR fan very early on, so I am beyond excited to be able to co-host the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Awards this year,” said Pope. “And what better place to have it than Nashville? I cannot wait to combine one of my favorite sports with my home city and I’m looking forward to all of the festivities.”
Pope is a Grammy-nominated, Platinum-certified country artist who recently released her highly anticipated second solo album, STAGES, featuring hit singles “Take You Home,” “One More Red Light,” and “If My Heart Had A Heart.” Pope will share hosting duties for the event with NBC Sports’ Rutledge Wood throughout the show.
Pope is one of a number of Nashville-based stars slated to be on-site for the show, as the worlds of NASCAR and the Music City collide for the ultimate celebration fit for a champion.
Additional news around the event, including musical performers and much more, is set to be announced in the coming weeks.
