  • From the Mark Martin NASCAR Online chat 4-14: Mark Martin will be running a special car for the Winston, as well as the July 4th Pepsi 400 at Daytona. It will be a different sponsor for each of those races. So it won’t be just a color or paint job scheme, it will be a different product on the car.(NASCAR Online), no idea who the sponsors may be at this time.(4-14-98)
  • I hear Bob Dell, General Manager of the #77 Jasper Engines Ford team has left the team and that Mike Rompf, Public Relations was released.(4-14-98)
  • Branch Bank and Trust(BB&T), a subsidiary of Southern National Corporation will be an associate sponsor on the #91 LJ Racing Chevy this weekend at Martinsville.(LJ Racing Website)(4-13-98)
  • Todd Wilkerson, the team manager for Mark Green’s No. 37 Timber Wolf Chevrolet, had successful surgery in Owensboro, Ky., Tuesday to have pins inserted in his left wrist, which was fractured in an accident on pit road in the Busch series race at Hickory Motor Speedway last Saturday. Wilkerson was injured when a car(Kevin Grubb) spun onto pit road and hit the pit box on which Wilkerson was sitting, throwing him to the ground.   • Testing also continued at Talladega after a bit of a rain delay. Sterling Marlin, Joe Nemechek(BGN & WC) and Elton Sawyer tested SABCO cars, Dennis Setzer tested the #89 Elliott Ford(no sponsor seen), Kenny Schrader(#33), Ernie Irvan(#36), Kenny Irwin(#28), Dick Trickle(#90), Kenny wallace(#81), Gary Bradberry(#78), Mike Dillon(#3 Earnhardt chevy), Johnny Benson(#26), Brett Bodine(#11) and Matt Kennseth(#60). Also Robby Reiser, who owns Kenseth’s BGN team will server as crew chief for Kenseth’s Cup debut at Talladega.(WC Today and NASCAR Today Radio)(4-14-98)

  • I hear that 19 year old BGN driver Kevin Grubb is becoming a ‘hot commodity and that after his last few qualifying efforts that Grubb has been approached by no less than three BGN owners to drive their cars.(4-14-98)
