Sad News – Roy McCauley

Team Penske announced Wednesday evening that Daytona 500 winning crew chief Roy McCauley has passed away. McCauley won two Cup Series races in 119 starts as a crew chief, adding the 2006 spring race at Bristol Motor Speedway to his resume with Kurt Busch.

“It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to someone that has given so much to our team over twenty years,” Team Penske said in a statement. “Roy McCauley was a ‘Make it happen’ kind of guy. He was a gifted engineer and one of our leaders. He served as crew chief for Team Penske’s first Daytona 500 victory in 2008 and then took the lead transforming our processes within out NASCAR assembly shop.

“Our hearts and prayers go out to his wife, Amy, and their family.”
