Alex Bowman wins at Las Vegas following two-tire gamble and thrilling overtime charge: Alex Bowman won in a dramatic overtime ending in the Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Sunday – gambling on a two-tire final pit stop for his No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet and holding off the field in a two-lap sprint to decide the NASCAR Cup Series race. Bowman and Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kyle Larson made up the front row on the restart – the pair along with teammate William Byron took two tires on the final pit stop while Kyle Busch, who had led 40 of the previous 45 laps opted to get four tires and start just behind on the second row. #48-Alex Bowman won the Pennzoil 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The win is his first of the year, 1st win at Las Vegas and 7th career win.
#5-Larson finished 2nd followed by #1-Chastain, #18-Busch, #24-Byeron, #10-Almirola, #8-Reddick, #19-Truex, Jr., #9-Elliott, and pole witter #20-Bell.
The race ended after one overtime attempt. #18-Kyle Busch was leading late when #43-Jones brought out the caution.  Under pit stops, #5-Larson, #48-Bowman, and #24-Bowman took only two tires to get the lead.  Bowman and Larson battled over the final two laps with Bowman getting the victory by .178 second.
Stage 1 was won by #48-Bowman. Stage 2 was won by #1-Chastain.
There were 23 lead changes among 15 drivers and 12 cautions for 60 yellow flag laps.
The average speed of the race was: 117.522mph.
