#23-Bubba Wallace won the Brickyard 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The win is his first win of the year, first at Indianapolis and third career win.
#5-Kyle Larson finished 2nd followed by #11-Denny Hamlin, #60-Ryan Preece, #6-Brad Keselowski, #34-Todd Gilliland, #12-Ryan Blaney, #20-Christopher Bell, #48-Alex Bowman, and #77-Carson Hocevar.
Pole sitter #19-Chase Briscoe had to pit for fuel before the final restart and finish 18th.
Wallace was in control of the race, with a lead of more than 4 seconds over Larson, when rain hit turn one and forced an 18 minute red flag for track drying with 4 laps remaining. During the first overtime event, #38-Zane Smith wrecked, setting up a second overtime attempt. Wallace saved enough fuel to hold off Larson through both restarts and take the win.
Stage 1 was won by #19-Chase Briscoe. Stage 2 was won by #12-Ryan Blaney.

White flag – Wallace leads Larson by .35 second.
Lap 167 – Green flag for the second overtime attempt. Wallace clears Larson on the start.
Lap 166- Green flag next time by. Briscoe comes to pit road.
Lap 164 – Pit road is open. Leaders stay out. Gibbs is the only one to pit.
Lap 163 – Fuel will now start to be an issue for everyone. Wallace and Byron and in danger now.
Lap 162 – CAUTION is out. Smith and Reddick wreck on the backstretch. Logano and Love get some damage.

5:26pm/et – Red flag is lifted. Race is back to yellow.  Cars will go around the track and pit road will be opened.  Will have an overtime finish.
5:15pm/et – NASCAR thinks they could have the track dry in 10-15 minutes.
Lap 157 – 5:07pm/et – Race is red flagged for rain. Cars are stopped just before the start-finish. If they can get restarted, there will be an overtime attempt. Track drying is underway.  Turn 1 got very wet.  The rest of the track is in good shape.
Lap 155 –  CAUTION is out for rain in turn 1. Top 10 are: Wallace, Larson, Byron, Hamlin, Berry, Reddick, Briscoe, Bell, Buescher, and Hocevar.
Lap 153 – With 8 laps left, Larson is still over 4 seconds back. Byron moves to third over Reddick. Hamlin is fifth.
Lap 151 – Ten laps remaining.  Wallace’s lead over Larson still more than 4 seconds.
Lap 149- 12 to go. Wallace leads Larson by more than 4 seconds.
Lap 146 – 15 to go. Everyone has now pitted.  The top 10 are Wallace, Larson, Reddick, Byron, Hamlin, Berry, Briscoe, Bell, Buescher, Hocevar.
Lap 140 – Blaney pits from the lead. Legge was passed by Wallace on track and he is now the leader.
Lap 139 – 22 laps to go. Blaney and Legge up front by still need to pit. Behind them Wallace leads Reddick by 2 seconds. Larson is a half second behind Reddick.
Lap 137 – 24 laps remaining. Blaney is the leader over Legge.
Lap 136 – Haley, Keselowski, and Gilliland pit. Blaney takes the lead.
Lap 135 – It’s now Haley, Keselowski, Gilliland Blaney, Legge, Logano, Wallace, Reddick, Larson and Berry. Logano has no power on the car.
Lap 133 – Logano with a tire down. Race stays green.
Lap 132 – Haley, Keselowski, Gilliland, Blaney and Legge still have not pitted but they all need fuel before the end. Logano is sixth and leads Wallace by .5 second. Reddick is 1 second behind Wallace.

Lap 123 – Nemechek pits. Haley takes the lead.

Lap 102 – Blaney had to pit with pit road closed because they were low on fuel.

Lap 99 – Blaney leads Larson and Hamlin with two laps remaining in stage 2.

Lap 97 – Green flag with four laps remaining in stage 2.

Lap 94 – Pit road is open. Most drivers that had not pitted are in. Blaney will take the lead.  Off pit road: Nemechek, Bell, Briscoe, Reddick.
Lap 90 – CAUTION out for an accident by Jones. He lost the right front wheel and hit the wall.
Lap 89 – Wallace pits from the lead. Briscoe to the top.
Lap 88 – Pit stops continuing to cycle through.  Wallace still the leader over Briscoe, Jones, Reddick, and Blaney.
Lap 84 – Cindric has a tire go down while leading. He had to crawl to pit road.  Logano and Logano pit.  The race stays under green. Wallace now the leader.
Lap 83 – It’s Cindric, Logano, Wallace, Buescher and Gibbs the top 5.
Lap 81 – Eighty laps are complete and the race has reached the halfway point and is official. No immediate concern of race-stopping rain. Cindric still the leader. Some green flag pit stops beginning.
Lap 79 – Custer has a tire go down and limps to pit road. Bryon pits from second place in hopes of a caution but the race stays green.
Lap 78 – Cindric leads Byron by .35 second. Third place Hocevar is 5.2 seconds back.
Lap 74 – A few light rain drops reported in turn 1. No issue at this point.
Lap 73 – ADillon is officially done for the day.
Lap 72 – Nine laps until halfway. Cindric is the leader over Byron, Hocevar, Wallace, Logano, Buescher, Berry, Larson, Gibbs and Briscoe.
Lap 66 – Bowman pits and Cindric is now the leader. Haley also pits.
Lap 65 – Preece pits from the lead. Bowman now out front.
Lap 63 – Cody Ware goes to the garage.
Lap 61 – Preece continues to lead over Bowman, Haley, Cindric and Byron.
Lap 58 – ADillon goes to the wall with radiator damage from the restart stack up.
Lap 56 – Back to green for the start of the final stage.  Weather still not an immediate issue, but 25 laps from halfway and an official race. Stenhouse collected damage on the restart when the field stacked up coming to green.
Lap 54 – Staying out under caution and now up front are Preece, Bowman, Haley, Cindric, Berry, Logano and Jones. Hocevar lines up 8th after pitting.
Lap 53 – Pit road open. A variety of strategies. Of those that pitted, Hocevar is off first with two tires then Briscoe, Byron, Reddick, Wallace, Busch, Larson, Suarez, Buescher, and Gibbs.
Lap 51 – CAUTION for the end of stage 1.  Briscoe wins it. He’s followed by Wallace, Byron, Reddick, Buescher, Busch, Hocevar, Larson, ADillon and Allmendinger.
Lap 47 – Jones pits from 5th place for fuel.
Lap 44 – This time by, it’s Berry’s turn to pit.  It’s now Briscoe, Wallace, Jones, Byron and Reddick the top 5 with 7 laps remaining in stage 1.
Lap 43 – Cindric pits from the lead. Briscoe back to the front.
Lap 42 – Logano pits under green. He did not pit under caution.
Lap 41 – Ten laps remaining in stage 1. Cindric continues to lead Logano, Briscoe, Berry, and Wallace.
Lap 34 – Chastain is unofficially done for the day and will finish last, barring any disqualifications.
Lap 31 – Cindric and Logano still up front. Briscoe is third, with Wallace fourth and Berry back to fifth.
Lap 27 – McDowell has a tire goes down and is limping to pit road.  No caution.
Lap 23 – Back to green. Cindric, Logano, Berry, Briscoe, Wallace the top 5.
Lap 21 – Pit road is open. Most lead lap cars come to pit road. Off pit road: Briscoe, Wallace, Reddick, Jones, Byron, Buescher, Busch, Allmendinger, Hocevar, Larson. They all take two tires.  Staying out: Cindric, Logano, Berry.
Lap 18 – CAUTION is out for Chastain. Contact from McDowell sent him into the wall in turn 3.
Lap 16 – Briscoe’s lead consistent at .3 second ahead of Reddick. Wallace is .66 second back. Hamlin has slipped back to 33rd, 20 seconds off the
lead. The final car on track is Bilicki, nearly 42 seconds back.
Lap 11 – Reddick has moved to second and is .35 second behind Briscoe. Wallace is now third..
Lap 6 – Five laps complete. Briscoe leads Wallace, Reddick, Byron and Jones. Hamlin has moved up to 30th after starting in the rear.
Lap 2 – Briscoe leads the first lap.
•  2:10pm/et – Green flag at Indianapolis. Briscoe and Wallace on the front row.
•  1:58pm/et – Engines have been fired.
•  1:51pm/et – Pre-race ceremonies are underway. They have been moved up 10 minutes from the original schedule.
•  15 minutes until pre-race ceremonies. There are some storms south of the track but they are moving east and no danger at this point.
• As of 12:00pm/et, the radar is generally clear around the speedway.  The concern is with some pop up storms during the heat of the day.
• Should rain interrupt the race, it will be official after lap 80.
• Weather could be an issue today. The National Weather Service forecast is: “Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 5pm. Partly sunny and hot, with a high near 91. West southwest wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.” Rain is expected to be spotty, so it will just be a matter of where things develop. Meteorologist Brian Neudorff puts the odds of racing at 60-70%.
