Chase Elliott breaks drought with electrifying victory at EchoPark Speedway: Timing his pass on the last lap to perfection, Georgia native Chase Elliott charged past Brad Keselowski and held off the driver of the No. 6 Ford to win Saturday night’s Quaker State 400 at Echo Park Speedway. The popular victory in the first event of the NASCAR Cup Series’ In-Season Challenge broke a 44-race drought for Elliott dating to last year’s win at Texas Motor Speedway. #9-Chase Elliott won the Quaker State 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at EchoPark Speedway. The win is his first win of the year, second at Atlanta and 20th career win.
#6-Brad Keselowski finished 2nd followed by #48-Alex Bowman, #45-Tyler Reddick, #43-Erik Jones, #47-Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., #38-Zane Smith, #10-Ty Dillon, #17-Chris Buescher, and #77-Carson Hocevar.
Elliott ran up front through much of he race and led 41 laps on the night but had to pass Keselowski on the final lap to get the win.
Pole sitter #22-Joey Logano was caught in the accident at the start of stage 2 and could not continue. He finished 36th.
The race was delayed by rain midway through stage 1, leading to a 15 minute red flag.
Just after the start of stage 2, an accident involved more than half the field and led to a 9 minute red flag for track cleanup.
The fastest lap bonus was earned by #42-John Hunter Nemechek
Stage 1 was won by #2-Austin Cindric. Stage 2 was won by #45-Tyler Reddick.
There were 46 lead changes among 13 drivers and 10 cautions for 68 yellow flag laps.
The average speed of the race was: 111.792mph.

Lap 182 – Green with 79 laps remaining. Bowman, Keselowski, Elliott, Haley, Buescher, Reddick, Jones, Gibbs, Wallace, Smith the top 10.
Lap 180 – Hamlin comes back out on track. He is 110 laps down but will pass 6 driver by making a couple laps.
Lap 179 – Pit road is open. A handful stay out, including Bowman. Most of the field pits and is probably going to try to make it the rest of the way on fuel. Off pit road: Haley, Buescher, Reddick, Jones, Gibbs, Wallace, Smith, Allmedinger, TDillon.
Lap 176 – CAUTION out. SVG spin on the frontstretch.
Lap 173 – Bowman back to the lead.
Lap 169 – Green for the start of the final stage.  92 laps remaining. Elliott, Buescher, Reddick, Bowman, TDillon, Nemechek, Keselowski, SVG, Jones and Haley the top 10.  21 drivers on the lead lap.

Lap 128 – Bowman leads Buescher, Reddick, Smith and Haley.  Bell is back on track, but 68 laps down. He could easily jump more than 10 spots by running to the end.
Lap 121 – Bowman just ahead of Reddick at the line.
Lap 118 – Green flag back out. 13 laps until halfway, still 43 laps to the end of stage 2.

Lap 110 – CAUTION out for Herbst and Gilliland in turn 4. Hocevar is the free pass.
Lap 104 – Stenhouse got up into the wall and got into Nemechek but no caution.

Lap 88 – Reddick takes the lead for the first time tonight. Herbst second, then Buescher, Elliott, and Gibbs.
Lap 79 – Gibbs now leads Herbst and SVG. Buescher back to fourth. Suarez and Chastain also out of the race.

Lap 70 – Engines have been re-fired after a red flag of jut over 9 minutes.
Lap 70 – CAUTION right back out. Another big accident in turn 3: Chastain, Preece, Logano, Byron, Suarez, Hocevar, Preece, Larson, Briscoe, LaJoie, Hamlin, Ware, Keselowski, Gragson, Haley, Cindric, TDillon, Wallace, Busch, Bowman, Berry. Race will be red flagged for track cleanup.
Lap 69 – Green flag for the start of the second stage. Elliott, Buescher, Haley, Gibbs, Nemechek, Reddick, Hamlin, Smith, Gilliland, Van Gisbergen the top 10. Wallace has lost a lap due to repairs, Bell is behind the wall for repairs, Blaney is done for the night and will finish last (barring no DNQ after the race).
Lap 65 – Pit road is open. The leaders come down. Elliott stays out and will take the lead.
Lap 61 – Stage 1 ends under caution: Cindric, Keselowski, Logano, Byron, Hocevar, Stenhouse, Berry, Wallace, Van Gisbergen, and Elliott.
Lap 57 – Cindric back in front. CAUTION out for a big wreck in turn 4. Involved:  ADillon, Bell, Wallace, Blaney, Allmendinger, and more. It started when Bell got loose and spun out.
Lap 52 – Logano back to the lead.
Lap 50 – Cindric leads Logano at the line by .005 second.
Lap 49 – Green flag back out.  Logano leads Cindric, Berry, Keselowski, Byron, Hocevar, Larson ADillon, McDowell and Stenhouse.
Lap 47 – The top seven driver stay out.  Almost everyone else pits.  Busch off first, then Preece, TDillon, Bell, and Wallace.
Lap 46 – Track is ready. Pit road will be opened next time by.

8:08pm/et – Still a few sprinkles reported, but engines will be re-fired.
8:00pm/et – “Only a few drops” of rain around the track.
7:58pm/et – The track is ready in turns 3 & 4.  NASCAR is going to focus on a couple spots on the backstretch. This should not be a lengthy delay unless more rain hits.
7:56pm/et – Rain has let up. NASCAR says the track is drying quickly behind the jet dryers.
Lap 44 – Cars are on pit road and stopped for a red flag. Driver will remain in the cars for now.

Lap 31 – Larson has moved up to 6th with Byron behind him.  They are the top running Chevrolets at this point.
Lap 26 – Logano leads Berry by .12 second.  The top 11 drivers all separated by less than 1 second.

• 7:08pm/et – Engines are fired.  Still rain in the area, but it’s hold off for now.
• 7:00pm/et – Pre-race ceremonies are underway.
• 6:50pm/et – Rain is remaining west of the track and everything remains on schedule. Pre-race ceremonies will get underway at the top of the hour.
• 6:30pm/et – TNT is now live with pre-race coverage. Teams are uncovering the cars as race preparations continue.
• Lightning hold has been lifted just after 6:00pm/et.  There is some rain in the area but nothing appear imminent.
• As of 5:35pm/et, there is a lightning hold at the track.
• No cars reported to be dropping to the rear as of this afternoon.
• There is a chance of rain tonight, but the likelihood decreases as the evening goes along. The National Weather Service says there is a 40% chance at rain at 5:00p/et but that drops to 20% by 7:00pm/et.

#22-Joey Logano won the Busch pole for the Quaker State 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at EchoPark Speedway with a speed of 178.960mph for his first pole of the year,  third at Atlanta and 32nd of his career.
#21-Josh Berry will start second followed by #12-Ryan Blaney, #2-Austin Cindric, #60-Ryan Preece, #6-Brad Keselowski, #41-Cole Custer, #38-Zane Smith, #48-Alex Bowman, and #19-Chase Briscoe.
Due to lightning earlier in the day, qualifying was delayed by 30 minutes and cut to only one round. There was an additional lightning hold during qualifying but it was able to be completed.

  • Just nine NASCAR Cup Series regular season races remain before the Playoffs.
  • This weekend marks the 123rd running of a NASCAR Cup Series race at EchoPark Speedway (1960-2025), and the seventh Atlanta race on the new surface and configuration.
  • Atlanta held two races a year from 1960-2010 except for 1961 when three races were held. Atlanta held one race a year from 2011-2020, then starting in 2021 it once again hosted two races a year.
  • Beginning in 2023, both Atlanta races were shortened to 400 miles.
