As reported here: Dale Earnhardt Jr., the son of one of stock car racing’s biggest names, will make his official debut on the NASCAR Winston Cup Series next season with backing from the Anheuser-Busch’s Budweiser beer brand. Sources have told iRACE that the DEI-Budweiser combination is a prelude to a full-season Winston Cup run with Earnhardt Jr. in 2000, with a second full-time DEI team. Reportedly, Budweiser’s current contract with Hendrick Motorsports runs through the 1999 Winston Cup season. While officials of the St. Louis-based brewing company have been looking to make a change for the past several months, sources told iRACE that they intend to honor their commitment with Hendrick next year.(iRace)(9-20-98)
