Crew Chief news UPDATE:

Tommy Baldwin Jr. laughed off questions about his Winston Cup future. Ward Burton’s crew chief has been offered a contract by current team owner Bill Davis, but he has not signed it yet. The young upstart crew chief has reportedly received many offers and is talking with Ray Evernham about working with Jeff Gordon’s team. Baldwin is one of three crew chiefs that Evernham is talking with about a future at Hendrick Motorsports( Times-Disptach ) and from PitNow : Evernham is considering Baldwin and two other crew chiefs. But Greg Zipadelli, Tony Stewart’s crew chief, isn’t one of them, who is in the middle of negotiations for a five-year deal with car owner Joe Gibbs. And neither is Kevin Hamlin, Dale Earnhardt’s crew chief. Davis and Burton are already considering new crew chiefs in case Baldwin does leave, and one of the first men they’ve considered is Jimmy Elledge, crew chief for car owner Andy Petree and driver Kenny Wallace. Elledge’s father, Terry, heads Davis’ engine program
