#3 RCR crew chief Kevin Hamlin was fined $2,000 by NASCAR officials Thursday for rules violations discovered in inspection prior to last Sunday’s Cup race at the California Speedway. Hamlin was penalized under Section 12-4-Q in the 2000 NASCAR Winston Cup Series rule book: “Any determination by NASCAR Officials that parts and/or equipment used in the Event do not conform … or have not been approved by NASCAR …” Apparently, for the second straight race, the #3 Chevy’s rear bodywork around the bumper area was not dimensionally correct according to NASCAR’s body templates(SpeedVision and (NOL and That’s Racin’)(5-4-2000)
