Mayfield May Miss Watkins Glen too? UPDATE yes:

Jeremy Mayfield, who suffered a closed-head injury in a practice-session wreck Friday at Indianapolis and sat out the Brickyard 400, may miss next weekend’s race at Watkins Glen as well. Mayfield was released from Methodist Hospital late Friday afternoon and returned to his home in Cornelius, N.C., Friday night. He watched Saturday’s race on TV. Kyle Petty, who did not qualify his own car for the race, substituted for Mayfield and finished 32nd. Mayfield’s team owner, Michael Kranefuss, said Saturday that Mayfield would be re-evaluated early this week to ensure he is ready to return to the car. Mayfield suffered a mild concussion in a wreck at Daytona in July and Kranefuss said doctors want to make sure there are not compounding, lingering effects. Jeremy Mayfield, a two-time race winner this season and regular driver for the team since 1996, will sit out recovering from a concussion suffered in an accident during practice last week at Indianapolis. Hubert, who turned 36 this past Sunday, is a native of Cottonwood, CA, with stock car racing experience in all major divisions. He stunned the NASCAR world a year ago when he qualified fourth at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway oval for its Winston Cup event, and has Winston Cup experience on the road courses at Watkins Glen and Sonoma, CA. Mayfield, 31, was injured during a third-turn accident in practice Friday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway when his car hit oil, spinning it around and slamming it into the wall on the driver’s side first. He was examined and released by Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and returned to his North Carolina home late Friday evening.
